Teetering on Collapse

A quote so good we put it in our boardroom

“Ambition is critical, because that’s what motivates us to give our very best every single day - to achieve the undoable. However, a large amount of capital with ambition can be a potent mix that drives a company to defocus from its core. We feel that happened to us. We started doing too many things, and all of us starting with myself and Rohit, are to blame for it.” - Kunal Bahl, CEO of Snapdeal

Will the authors of this trainwreck also practice humility to make Spreefail better and show everyone what it means to act like an owner?  If they pursue challenges like the leaders of Snapdeal did and forego their salaries, that would really raise their bar and demonstrate how to be relentless.

Together, we’ll keep on growing - until we don’t. Because surely two weeks is all the time we had to shift our entire strategic focus and lay off over 20% of our work force. If we told the truth on that - that we only had two weeks - then that means we're wildly inept, incapable of foresight, and unable to lead our way out of a wet paper bag. If, rather, we lied to our company - then that means we are hypocrites after advertising the false notions of "radical candor" and "employee ownership" for years.
